Find inspiration away from home

We all need to step outside our normal day to day life occasionally to recharge, reenergise and refresh the mind. We also need to find time to seek out new experiences to inspire us and grow as individuals. We are encouraged to seek mindfulness to give our mind and body a moment of peace, but there are also great benefits from keeping busy, doing something creative or physical, focussing on the task completely, and taking your mind away from everything else.

Here are some of my experiences to inspire you to do the same:

Visit an art gallery

‘In real life’ by Olafur Eliasson (Tate Modern, 11 Jul 2019 – 5 Jan 2020) was a fun interactive exhibition. This Danish-Icelandic artist was showing over 40 works of art. He hoped that as you encounter each exhibit, you became more aware of your senses. The ‘fog’ installation was especially disorientating. A great introduction to art for children in an iconic London building.

Taking exercise outdoors

Absorbing yourself in the beauty of nature always revives the soul. A regular walk, with or without animals helps to clear the mind. Hard to motivate yourself in the Winter months so try to team up with a friend. Walk and talk with a coffee on a weekly basis.

Relaxing to watch a film

It’s awards season. Usually a great time of year to visit the cinema. ‘Little Women’ is my favourite film so far this year.  I watched it in comfort in the new recliner chairs that are available at my local cinema. If you like watching films on the big screen, why don’t you organise a cinema club; set up a group chat and coordinate visits. Better still – make friends with someone with their own cinema room; now that really is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
